Services Performed
- Verified the complaint found CEL is on. Pulled faults to find code P0446 EVAP vent system performance. Vehicle went roughly 4000 miles since last repair. Monitored live data on the EVAP system to find fuel tank pressure sensor reads -15.51 in H2) and 4.06 volts indicating system is in a strong vacuum. Removed fuel cap, vent line, and purge line to see no change registered with reading. This indicates sensor is most likely reading incorrectly because the system is not in a vacuum after fuel cap is removed. Recommend replacing the fuel tank pressure sensor and inspect charcoal canister particles in the EVAP line. If present, recommend changing evap canister while gas tank has been removed (no additional labor). ___________ Dropped the fuel tank and replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor. Blew out the vent as well as the purge line with air. Removed the canister because customer informed me he tops it off. Weighed the old canister 73.6 oz. new charcoal canister weighs 54.8oz indicating fuel contaminated. Replaced the contaminated canister and re-installed all lines and fuel tank. Monitored FTPS to find it now reads normal. Plugged the vent and actuated the purge solenoid to find it pulls into a vacuum as it should. Cleared faults and recommend releasing to customer.
